The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on Saturday said a preventive suspension was imposed against the foreign employer of Jullebee Ranara, the overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who was murdered in Kuwait.
“Meron na po tayong in-impose na disciplinary action. We already preventively suspended the employer because of the death of our OFW,” DMW Undersecretary Bernard Olalia said in a press briefing.
He added that the employer was also sanctioned with definite blacklisting.
Meanwhile, the local agencies that deployed Ranara would be facing charges, Olalia said.
He said the Catalist International Manpower Services Company and Platinum International Office for Recruitment of Domestic Manpower will be charged with recruitment violation cases.
“Ongoing po ang ating investigation at kapag napatunay natin na may pagpapabaya, definitely hahantong po iyon sa isang sanction,” the DMW Undersecretary added.
The remains of Ranara arrived in the country on Friday night, January 27.
The husband, children, and relatives of Ranara received her remains at the cargo warehouse of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3.
On Sunday, the wake of the 35-year-old slain domestic helper began. Her family has asked the media for privacy.
