Displaced overseas Filipino workers (OFW), who are still waiting for their compensation from bankrupt construction firms in Saudi Arabia, are urged to contact the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) for the process of receiving the back wages.
In a press conference on Friday, DMW Secretary Susan 'Toots' Ople appealed to all displaced OFWs to send their information to the department's official email address at [email protected].
"Ang hiling namin talaga namin sa claimants..... mag-email kayo sa amin. Tulungan niyo kami para tulungan namin kayo," she said.
Ople presented the template that workers need to fill in and send it via email.
In the templated email, the agency is asking for the unpaid worker's contact numbers, present address, passport number, salary grade, and other information.
OFWs are given until May 1 to send the filled-out email.
Ople said those workers who are not familiar with sending emails can seek assistance from any staff of DMW or the regional offices of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) or personnel from the Municipal and City Hall in their respective areas.
Meanwhile, the loved ones of the OFWs, who already passed away but haven't received their back wages, can still send an email to the department.
"Sumulat pa rin kayo kasi may tatawag sa inyo at gagabayan kayo sa mga dokumento na gagamitin bilang patunay," Ople noted.
According to the DMW Secretary, the mode of payment will be discussed once the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has approved the list of names of OFWs eligible for the compensation.
In November last year, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman vowed to President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. that the KSA gov't will shoulder the unpaid salaries of 10,000 OFWs.
