The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) met the family of one of the two Filipinos killed in Israel war and assured them of continued government assistance.
In a press briefing on Thursday, Oct. 12, DMW officer-in-charge (OIC) Hans Cacdac said he personally met the relatives of the slain Filipino domestic worker.
“We had assured them the utmost assistance directed by no less than the President,” he said.
The assistance, according to Cacdac, includes financial aid from the DMW as well as from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).

“We will also be mindful of the children because children are the reason why an OFW becomes an OFW in the first place. Based on the directive also of the President, we assure them that the children left behind will be taken care of,” the DMW OIC said.
In addition, he mentioned that they would also provide employment and livelihood assistance to the family.
"We know that their livelihood or employement have been distrupted. So we will make these available to them," the DMW OIC said.
Cacdac said DMW also seeks to strengthen the psychosocial assistance to help the grieving members heal and move forward.
Meanwhile, the DMW OIC said 22 OFWs in Israel had already asked to be repatriated back to the Philippines.
Of the number, 19 are caregivers and three are hotel service workers.
