A graduating computer science student from the De La Salle University – Dasmariñas was brutally murdered inside her dormitory Dasmariñas City, Cavite province on Tuesday, March 28.
Based on the Cavite police report, the victim identified as Leanne Duguesin, 24, was found dead in her room by Marciana De Ocampo, the caretaker of the Rolisa dormitory, at about 4:40 pm.
Duguesin's lifeless body was reportedly discovered without lower garments and had blood stains on her body.
Cavite Police said autopsy reports showed that she sustained 14 stab wounds — 1 fatal at the neck, 9 in the body, and 4 in the left wrist but no signs of rape.
A closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage captured the suspect wearing a blue t-shirt, black shorts, black cap, and white slipper fleeing the dorm with the undetermined victim's belongings.
Cavite Police said the suspect gained entry at the rooftop of the dorm and went to the victim's window at about 1 am.
Meanwhile, in a statement, DLSU-Dasmariñas said it has been coordinating with Dasmariñas City local government to "tighten security measures through heightened police visibility" and "thorough inspections of dormitories located near the campus."
It said that safety marshals will be deployed in the areas of off-campus private dorms and other establishments.
DLSU encouraged all students to wear black and join the prayer vigil for justice that will be held on Thursday afternoon.
"Let us stand together in solidarity to mourn the loss of our student and to offer our support to those affected by this tragedy," the university said.
