The Philippine National Police - Integrity Monitoring Group (PNP-IMEG) apprehended a dismissed cop and his six cohorts during an entrapment operation on Wednesday, June 30, along Maginhawa Street in Teachers Village, Quezon City over extortion allegations.
PBGen. Thomas Frias, chief of PNP-IMEG, identifed the suspects as Joaquin Flores, Domingo Corpuz, Renz Manago, Elton Lopez, Gabriel Momjuan, Armando Silao, and Ocito Del Monte.
PNP-IMEG acted on a complaint by Talisay, Batangas vice-mayor Gerry Natanauan against Flores.
Flores, a dismissed cop, allegedly introduced himself as a police colonel, and demanded Php 380,000 in exchange for the immediate resolution of a case filed by the Office of the Ombudsman against Natanuan.
Retired PBGen. Nelson Yabut, Ombudsman Security Consultant, denied that a case has been filed against Natanuan, and that the group of Flores has connections with the Office of the Ombudsman.
The suspects face charges for usurpation of authority, swindling, and illegal possession of firearms.
