Finance Secretary Benjamin Diokno on Tuesday brushed off rumors that he is exiting the Marcos administration's economic team.
In an ambush interview with reporters during the Stratbase Albert Del Rosario Institute’s Pilipinas Conference in Makati City, Diokno said he is "old enough in this game to even bother about this."
"I don't know where this is coming from. Right? I'm old enough in this game to even bother about this. I just work nonstop and unceasingly to do my job. And I always think of what's the greatest good for the greatest number," he said.
The Cabinet official said he maintains a "very good" relationship with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who appointed him earlier this year.
Albay 2nd District Rep. Joey Salceda, who was rumored to replace Diokno as SOF, likewise dismissed the report and called it "pointless speculation."
"The President ultimately makes the decisions on appointments. The Cabinet, after all, is his official family. He has a SOF already. Until he says otherwise, any talk of any appointment is pointless speculation," he said.
