The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) taps schools and non-government organizations to help in keeping barangays safe from the dangers of illegal drugs.
Aleta Pagilagan-Mendez of the DILG - National Barangay Operations Office said on Wednesday, May 6, that, aside from local government officials, the members of Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (BADACs) include public school representatives.
"Pwede yung principals nila or head teachers," Pagilagan-Mendez said during DILG sa DZRH Breaktime
Ang recommendation natin sa kanila is to tap yung mga school principal or head teachers nung mga nearby barangay," she added.
The DILG official also said that representatives of the civil service groups, and faith-based organizations have a seat within BADACs.
She explained that the tasks of BADACs, aside from helping law enforcement units in conducting clearing operations, include implementing drug rehabilitation programs, and advocacy campaigns to inform the public of the dangers of narcotics.
