The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) on Wednesday, April 12, assured that local government units follow the minimum disaster preparedness standards.
Asec. Bernardo Rafaelito Alejandro IV, the spokesperson of OCD, explained that all local government units should have the capability to immediately executive pre-emptive evacuation, and continue to provide basic government services even during times of calamities
"They should a very robust or functioning disaster management office na meron tayong naka-duty diyan, emergency operations center, meron tayong protocls na sinusunod," Alejandro told DZRH.
"May protocols tayo, may emergency operations center, and, of course, yung office na nag-manage to help our local executives," Alejandro added.
Alejandro also said that the OCD along with the Department of Interior and Local Government crafted Operation Listo to guide local chief executives on disaster preparedness.
"Very informative ito. Nakalagay na diyan kung ano ang kailangan nilang gawin in case na meron paparating na disaster or sakuna," the OCD official stressed.
"Very helpful ito sa ating mga chief executive and, of course, to our disaster officials. Ito may step-by-step kung ano ang gagawin nila in case na may disaster, kailangan nila dapat i-operate yung kanilang operations center," he added.
