In relation to this announcement, Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla clarified that employees in the private sector should refer to their respective companies regarding work suspension.
Earlier, Malacañang authorized Secretary Remulla to declare the suspension of classes and government work in times of severe weather or disaster.
According to Presidential Communications Office Secretary Dave Gomez, Remulla is now empowered to issue key announcements on behalf of the Cabinet and Malacañang during national emergencies. This move marks a proactive step in disaster response, with Remulla committing to issue advisories at least a day in advance—consistent with the protocols he followed during his time as governor of Cavite.
While Secretary Remulla holds the authority to declare suspensions, both the Department of Education and local government units may still issue separate announcements based on local conditions.
