Bogo City, Cebu boasts the effect of the closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras in improving the peace and order situation of the city.
Mayor Carlo Jose Martinez said on Wednesday, August 2, that the Bogo City police has been the number one police station in the province of Cebu in the last three years.
"Yung pag-resolve ng crime within the city has been the highest in the province of Cebu," Martinez said during DILG sa DZRH Breaktime.
"We are proud of that. That is done through our peace and order facilities through our CCTV cameras," the local chief executive added.
Martinez said that Bogo City, the first Smart City in Visayas, has 169 CCTV cameras, and paging systems.
Aside from CCTV cameras, the local government also invested in the installment of a 50-kilometer fiber optic network that improved the interconnectivity in the city.
"We provided the backbone para yung (Value Added Service) provider will just get the bandwith from a (telecommunications service provider) and then yung local provider na ang mag-distribute sa mga household," Martinez explained.
"Even the farthest barangay in the city has access already to interconnectivity through our infrastructure," he said.
Martinez also shared that Bogo City rents out a digital billboard to businesses, which generates additional revenue for the local government,
