The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) will let local government units select the beneficiaries of the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Housing (4PH) Program.
In an interview during DILG sa DZRH Breaktime on Wednesday, August 30, Housing Usec. Avelino Tolentino III said that the beneficiaries of the 4PH Program will include minimum-wage earners, and low-income earners.
"Ibibigay natin sa atin LGU yung beneficiary selection dahil sila yung mas nakakakilala ng ating mga kababayan on ground," Tolentino said.
Aside from identifying recipients of the program, he said that LGUs promised to provide local amortization support and livelihood to the beneficiaries.
DHSUD has already signed a memorandum of understanding with more than 150 LGUs for the implmentation of 4PH, which seeks the creation of at least six million housing units by 2028.
The DHSUD also partnered with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) to extend the program to overseas Filipino workers.
Tolentino assured that the DHSUD will review the list of beneficiaries to ensure the finacial sustainability of the program.
"Titignan din natin yung kanilang capacity to pay," the DHSUD official explained.
"Magkakaroon lang ng kaunting scaling iyan to ensure meron tayong turnaround para yung financial sustainability for the next batch of housing (beneficiaries)," he added.
