Albay Gov. Edcel Lagman reiterated the need to evacuate residents in areas covered by the six-kilometer danger zone around Mayon Volcano, which continues to show unrest.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) placed the volcano under Alert Level 3 status due to an increased number of volcanic quakes, and rockfalls in the area.
"Mina-mandate yung local chief executives na apektado nito na lumikas o magpalikas ng residents within the six-kilometer danger zone," Lagman said during DILG sa DZRH Breaktime.
Lagman assured that the government has enough food items for the evacuees.
The governor mentioned that the United Arab Emirates donated 50 tons of assorted food items, while the Department of Social Welfare and Development prepared 102,000 family food packs.
However, the governor expressed concern on the health, sanitation, and hygiene of the people inside the 'cramped' evacuation centers.
