Provincial governors study possible amendments to the "economic side" of the Local Government Code.
South Cotabato Gov. Reynaldo Tamayo Jr., president of League of Provinces of the Philippines, said on Wednesday, October 11, that governors seek the full implementation of Local Government Code.
Tamayo welcomes the impact of the Mandanas-Garcia ruling in the national tax allotment, formerly known as Internal Revenue Allotment, received by local government units (LGUs).
The governor describes the ruling as a victory for the LGUs.
Under the 2018 ruling of the Supreme Court, the NTA of LGUs should come from all national taxes and not just the national internal revenue taxes collected by the Bureau of Internal Revenue.
