

The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) seeks to further ensure that persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) will have a "second chance" in life once they return to society.
Interviewed during DILG sa DZRH Breaktime on Wednesday, March 13, BJMP chief JDir. Ruel Rivera said the bureau coordinates with more than 15 learning institutions across the Philippines for PDLs to receive education while serving their sentence.
Rivera said that BJMP has produced elementary, highschool, and college graduates since 2017 through the Alternative Learning System Program and the College Behind Bars program.
"Meron na kami sa tala na pito na naka-graduate ng college," Rivera said.
"Kami ay nakipag-ugnayan with the Department of Education. Meron kaming (memorandum of agreement) rin diyan between them at saka sa higher educational system ng Pilipinas," he assured.
