As the 2023 Barangay elections near, the Local Government Academy (LGA) assures that the government has a program to train newly elected officials.
LGA executive director Thelma Vecina said on Wednesday, September 13, that the academy partners with other groups, including the Department of Interior and Local Government, for the implementation of the Barangay Newly Elected Officials program.
Vecina said that a component of BNEO provides orientation and specialized courses to newly elected local government officials.
"Meron tayong orientation at meron din tayong pagsasanay kung paano nila gagawin ang kanilang barangay development plan, at capacity development agenda," Vecina said during DILG sa DZRH Breaktime.
"Ang Barangay Newly Elected Officials Program ay term-based. Hindi lang ito sa orientation pero hanggang sa makuha nila ang barangay seal of good governance," she added.
Aside from training, Vecina said that BNEO also ensures smooth transition between outgoing, and incoming barangay officials.
"We ensure na lahat ng mga document, lahat ng facilities, services, na dapat ay ayusin nila bago pumasok yung ating bagong halal na officials," Vecina explained.
LGA also partners with the Liga ng mga Barangay, other academic institutions, and civil-service organizations for the success of BNEO.
