The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) targets establishing fire stations and providing fire trucks to all municipalities in the Philippines before the end of 2024.
Out of 1,488 municipalities across the country, BFP Chief Director Louie Puracan said that around 100 local government units still have no fire trucks.
"Sana by 2024, ma-cover na natin lahat ng municipalities. Buong Pilipinas, may fire truck at fire station," Puracan said on Wednesday, December 20 during DILG sa DZRH Breaktime.
Puracan also laments that BFP does not have choppers to rescue people from high-rise buildings.
The BFP chief said that the agency needs to coordinate with the Armed Forces of the Philippines to borrow choppers for such rescue operations.
"Sa buong Asia, ang mga bumbero na lang ng Pilipinas ang walang chopper. Lahat ng bumbero ng Asia ay may chopper," Puracan shared.
