Former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and his daughter, Vice President Sara Duterte attended the "Laban Kasama Ang Bayan Bayan" prayer rally on Tuesday, March 12, in support of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy who is facing contempt charges in both the Senate and the House.

The vice president arrived alone at the rally, but she did not go up on stage to deliver her message before the crowd.

Sara has already aired her support for the religious pastor and defended him in a video statement.

The former president, on the other hand, attended together with his allies, Senators Christopher 'Bong' Go, Ronald dela Rosa, and Robin Padilla, former presidential spokespersons Harry Roque and Salvador Panelo.

In his speech, the senior Duterte did not focus on Quiboloy but rather criticized the planned Charter change (Cha-cha) or amendment in the Philippine 1987 Constitution.

He claimed that Cha-cha initiators target to extend the term of President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr., similar to his father, the late former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. who served in the office for 21 years.

"Kapag [m]agalaw yung consitution, walang makakapara, everything goes. Ang gusto nilang pakiaalaman ito [....], ang punterya talaga nila ay ito term extension. Ngayon gusto nila Cha-cha, People's Initiative," he said.

"Kung may galawin man ang constitution, isa lang, pahabain lang talaga ni Marcos [ang term niya], kung ano ang ginawa ng tatay niya, gagawin niya," the senior Duterte added.

The former president appealed to the public to not allow Cha-cha to push through.

"Huwag na huwag [kayo] pumayag na mangyari iyan," he stressed.

Supporters of Quiboloy kicked off the six-day prayer rally last March 6.

"Laban Kasama Ang Bayan Bayan" held at Liwasang Bonifacio, Manila was also in support of Sonshine Media Network International which is at risk of losing its legislative franchise due to alleged multiple violations.
