The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) confirmed on Tuesday that their "sandbox" website, which they use to test possible malicious software, has been hacked.
This was confirmed by DICT Spokesman and assistant secretary Aboy Paraiso in a virtual interview with reporters.
"One particular site on our website was infiltrated," he said. "However, (this site) is where we test our VAPTs, Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing. This is where we test our scanners."
Paraiso added that the website acts as the agency's sandbox to test its "pre-determined vulnerabilities." He noted that no sensitive data or personal information were compromised on the hacking.
The DICT official said they are investigating the incident and will be taking necessary steps to ensure the security of its systems and data.
"We will be constantly upgrading not only the DICT website and our systems, but also the other systems of government," the DICT official said.
The news comes after a series of cyberattacks on the webpages of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, Philippine Statistics Authority, and other government agencies in the past weeks.
