The Philippine Blockchain Week (PBW) 2023 has gained the support of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

This highly anticipated sequel to the event will be held from September 19 to 21, 2023, at the Marriott Grand Ballroom, Newport World Resorts in Manila, Philippines.

During the conference, DICT Director Emmy Lou Delfin and DTI Director Jo-Dann Darong highlighed the significance of the Philippine Blockchain Week in advancing collaboration, innovation, and digitization among government agencies.

Presently, cryptocurrency ownership extends to approximately 6.13% of the Philippine population, which translates to nearly 7 million individuals, while 32% of Filipino internet users claim to possess non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

The department will also conduct focus group discussions with government officials to promote the utilization of blockchain technology for storing government data.

Meanwhile, Director Darong expressed the DTI's support for adopting a comprehensive approach to integrating blockchain technology across various sectors.

“At DTI, we promise to support all initiatives that will gear towards the attainment of the vision of making the Philippines not just innovative and creative, but more competitive through blockchain,” he said.
