The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) assured the public that they are closely monitoring the software outage that occurred on Friday allegedly caused by a faulty update of a cybersecurity provider.
In a statement released on Friday, the DICT mentioned that the Cybersecurity Bureau and the National Computer Emergency Response Team are already keeping their watch on the recent outage that affected companies all over the world.
The global cyber outage affected several companies in the country, including flights, banks, telecommunications, and even media.
“We assure the public that the Department does not use the same cybersecurity service provider and that no DICT systems or assets have been affected,” DICT said in a statement.
DICT mentioned that they are also having constant communication with relevant stakeholders in order to obtain detailed information. This way, they may assess the full impact of the incident.
