In an Instagram post on Monday, Mate gave a glimpse of her winning National Costume, describing it as a stunning representation that beautifully blends the country’s heritage and tradition.
"Inspired by the Baroque Churches of the Philippines, the gown is adorned with over 150,000 crystals, mimicking the vibrant stained glass windows. Gold Mindanao Okkir patterns embellish the design, symbolizing indigenous artistry," said Mate.
"A salacot headpiece, traditionally worn by farmers, adds an agricultural touch, while feather pen and lamp accessories celebrate the muses of Filipino poetry," she added.
The gown’s train in the beauty queen’s costume also highlights the fine craftsmanship of rattan furniture, honoring the skill of Filipino artisans.
Moreover, the gown served as a breathtaking tribute to the nation’s rich cultural heritage, beautifully embodying the traditions and artistry that have shaped the country’s identity.
Mate aims to secure the Philippines’ second victory in the pageant, following Teresita Ssen “Winwyn” Marquez’s historic win in 2017, which marked the country's first title.
The highly anticipated coronation night of the pageant will take place on February 10 (Manila time).
