Filipinos still residing in Ukraine have been ordered to evacuate as the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Monday raised Alert Level 4 in all areas there.
In an advisory, the DFA cited behind its decision the escalating security concerns in Ukraine, which is currently in conflict with Russia.
"Due to the rapidly deteriorating security situation in Ukraine, the Department of Foreign Affairs has raised the alert level for all areas in Ukraine to Alert Level 4 (Mandatory Evacuation)," the Philippine Embassy in Warsaw, Poland, said in the advisory.
"Under Alert Level 4, the Philippine Government undertakes mandatory evacuation procedures at government expense," it added.
The Philippine Embassy in Warsaw is currently overseeing evacuations of Filipinos coming from Ukraine.
According to the embassy, Filipinos in Ukraine will be assisted by the Philippine Embassy in Poland and the Rapid Response Team, which are assisting Filipinos for repatriation.
"The DFA continues to closely monitor the political and security developments in Ukraine," it said.
While some Filipinos are now being repatriated to the Philippines, the DFA said some are choosing to remain there to stay with their Ukrainian partners and families.
