The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is currently unable to provide a precise count of the Filipino citizens affected by the extensive wildfire incident in Hawaii.
Eduardo de Vega, Undersecretary for Migrant Workers in the DFA, stated during a DZRH interview that the exact number of impacted Filipinos will not be known until the upcoming days.
A consular team from the country is scheduled to arrive in Maui today to establish contact with leaders within the Filipino community.
Furthermore, official authorization for financial aid has been granted for the 50 identified teachers from the Philippines who are presently located in Maui.
