Derek Ramsay opened up about hitting rock bottom after his separation from partner Ellen Adarna, clarifying that he is now at peace and happy.

In an interview with Morly Alinio, the actor chose not to comment on his separation from Adarna, stating, “Out of respect for everyone that’s involved in that situation, ang sagot ko sayo friend [Morly]...no comment na ako dyan. I said I’m at peace.”

The actor mentioned that he was also hurt by the situation. However, he said that spending time with family and his daughter in the United Kingdom (UK) helped him take a breather and reset.

At the time, Ramsay said that he turned to religion, adding that he had always been a “man of faith.”

“Pero I think lahat naman tayo guilty na [kung] kailan masarap ang buhay mo. Everything is going great, masaya ka, minsan nakakalimutan mong magpasalamat,” he admitted, adding that his friends and family helped him go back to his faith.

Shifting his focus back to his faith, Ramsay highlighted letting God take over his problems and going to confessions. “I’m sure maraming magsasabi dyan, ‘Ayan nanaman ginamit niya yung pangalan ng Diyos.’ That’s why Jesus died. He died to forgive us of our sins. Nagpapagamit talaga siya.”

The actor said he is grateful and happy that he has good friends and family to accompany him when he was lost, and could easily make the wrong decisions.

“Ayoko nang balikan ‘yung oras na pinagdaanan ko during that time. Talagang lubog ako non. Lubog na lubog na ako non. Parang wala na akong gana sa buhay noong time na ‘yon,” he recalled. “Minsan hindi mo na maco-contro [‘yung luha]. Dito sa bahay siguro bawat sulok na dito naiyakan ko na. Pero nung panahon na ‘yon nakatira ako sa condo. So, one bedroom lang ‘yun. Doon lang talaga nagkukulong ako doon.”

Moreover, Ramsay said that he never resorted to alcohol, clarifying that he was trying to rebuild himself during his trip to Japan and that he needed a new environment.

“Kasalanan ko din ‘yan. Di ako lasing. Never niyo naman ako makikita ‘yung walwal na wala akong control sa sarili. Nag post ako ng isang night na lumabas ako kasama mga kaibigan ko sa Japan. Pero hindi ako lasing. I was just having a good time with some really good friends. That was it,” he said.

Rose, one of the friends who accompanied him to Japan, made a brief appearance during the interview. Ramsay clarified that it was Rose who was photographed with him, adding that they have been friends for around 17 or 18 years. He also said that Rose’s husband and child were there and that they are close friends.

“Out of respect, ayoko magsalita tungkol sa situation na ‘yan. Ayoko na magsalita, ayoko na ma-misunderstood...I just want to keep my mouth shut,” Ramsay said. “I’m happy now, I’m at peace.”

In a series of Instagram stories posted last year, Adarna said that Ramsay remained unapologetic after the latter allegedly cheated on her, adding that the actor even resorted to blaming an ex-girlfriend for practicing witchcraft on him.
