The Department of Education (DepEd) will not suspend classes amid the one-week long transport strike from March 6 to 12, its spokesperson Michael Poa said on Friday.
&ldquo;On the part of DepEd, there will be no suspension of classes po,&rdquo; he said in a statement.&nbsp;
Poa said learners who will not attend the in-person can take Alternative Delivery Modes (ADM) instead.&nbsp;
Meanwhile, several schools and local government units (LGU)&nbsp; have already announced suspension of classes to give way for the week-long strike.
On Thursday, transport group MANIBELA said it will still <a href="https://www.dzrh.com.ph/post/transport-groups-to-continue-with-one-week-transport-strike" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pushed through</a> the one-week "tigil pasada," or strike of traditional jeepneys and UV Express nationwide even after the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) <a href="https://dzrh.com.ph/post/ltfrb-extends-jeepney-phaseout-until-dec.-30">extended</a> the deadline for jeepney operators to comply with the public utility vehicle franchise consolidation.
At least 40,000 traditional jeepneys and the UV Express in the&nbsp;National Capital Region (NCR) are expected to join the strike.
