The Department of Education (DepEd) reminded its officials, including teachers and non-teaching personnel, to refrain from engaging in political activities during graduation and moving-up ceremonies for the school year 2024-2025.
Education Secretary Sonny Angara emphasized the policy in the Conduct of End-of-School-Year Rites guidelines issued this year.
The DepEd Memorandum Order No. 27, Series of 2025, dated March 21, reiterates the ban on partisan activities during school ceremonies, a rule that was first implemented in 2018.
The provisions apply to all DepEd officials and employees, ensuring that school events remain non-political and focused on students’ activities.
This provision comes as the 2025 midterm election campaign season intensifies, with various candidates seeking public attention.
Meanwhile, the Department has scheduled the graduation and moving-up ceremonies for April 14 to 15, including Kindergarten, Grade 6, Grade 10, Grade 12, and Alternative Learning System (ALS) students, with the theme, “Generation of Unity: Partners for the New Philippines”.
The celebration is focused on the importance of unity and collective action to achieve a stronger and brighter future, emphasizing the duty of the current generation to unite and work together towards a new and progressive Philippines.
