

The Department of Education (DepEd) officially opened the enrollment process for School Year 2023-2024, three weeks before the commencement of classes later this month.
Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte, through DepEd Order 22, signed the directive setting the enrollment period from August 7 to 26, 2023.
"Enrollment shall start on August 7, 2023 and shall end on August 26, 2023," the order read.
Schools and Community Learning Centers (CLCs) have been instructed to facilitate the registration of learners into the Learner Information System (LIS) upon submission of the necessary supporting documents.
DepEd spokesperson Undersecretary Michael Poa expressed optimism that the number of students in public schools would increase to 28.8 million in this school year as compared to the 28.7 million in the previous academic year.
Brigada Eskwela 2023
In conjunction with the enrollment announcement, DepEd invited everyone to participate in the upcoming Brigada Eskwela 2023, as noted in DepEd Order 21.
The national kick-off program was recently held at Tarlac National High School.
Brigada Eskwela is a nationwide school maintenance program that brings together all education stakeholders, dedicating their time, effort, and resources to ensure that all public schools in the country are fully prepared for the start of classes.
DepEd encouraged the public to take part in Brigada Eskwela 2023, scheduled from August 14 to 19, with the theme "Bayanihan Para sa Matatag na Paaralan."
Prior to this, DepEd officially announced the opening of classes for public schools for School Year 2023-2024, set for August 29, 2023.
