School Year 2022-2023 will begin on August 22 and will end on July 7, the Department of Education (DepEd) announced Tuesday.
Under Department Order No. 34 signed by Education Secretary and Vice President Sara Duterte, schools will only be allowed to hold blended learning schedules and full-distance learning until October 31, 2022.
Starting November 2, all public and private schools should have transitioned to 5 days of in-person classes.
"After the said date, no school shall be allowed to implement purely distance learning or blended learning except for those that are implementing Alternative Delivery Modes," the order stated.
There will be a total of 203 school days, limited only to academics and related co-curricular activities, according to DepEd, noting that the conduct of extra-curricular activities is strictly prohibited.
The first quarter is set from August 22, 2022 to November 5, 2022; the second quarter is from November 7, 2022 to February 3, 2023; the third quarter is from February to April 28, 2023, and the fourth quarter from May 2 to July 7, 2023.
The DepEd said Christmas break shall begin on December 19, 2022 while classes will resume on January 4, 2023. A midyear break is also scheduled from February 6, 2023 to February 10, 2023.
Remedial classes, meanwhile, will be held from July 17, 2023 to August 26, 2023.
In the order, DepEd said it issued the school calendar “in accordance with its commitment to the resumption of 5 days in-person classes despite the health crisis brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.”
It added that the school year 2023-2024 will start on August 28, 2023, to June 28, 2024 and the school year 2024-2025 will be from August 26, 2024 up to June 27, 2025, unless otherwise amended.
