The Department of Education (DepEd) visited 30,000 students from 14 public schools in 10 ‘EMBO’ barangays that were in the territory of Makati City and now transferred to Taguig City during the first day of classes on Tuesday, August 29.
According to Education Assistant Secretary Francis Cesar Bringas, the said inspection aims to ensure the smooth start of classes at ‘EMBO’ schools.
As the classes started, Bringas said that the continuous issue between Makati and Taguig would not affect the students. He likewise clarified that the DepEd has no restrictions if most students are wearing the uniforms they received from Makati.
In an interview with DZRH’s Damdaming Bayan, Bringas said that the uniforms indicate the schools’ names, and the students can still wear them.
"Pwede pa naman kasi ang nakatatak naman sa kanilang mga uniporme ay pangalan ng eskwelahan," he said.
Bringas noted that the DepEd still allows the distribution of school supplies and other school materials that the local government of Makati provides for the students.
Meanwhile, Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte first took over the leadership of 14 public schools in 10 ‘EMBO’ barangays as two cities revolved.
