Public and private institutions can hold their classes online as the Department of Education (DepEd) on Sunday approved the distance learning for learners during the one-week transport strike of jeepneys and UV Express nationwide.
In an advisory, DepEd directed all regional directors and division superintendents to “prepare in-person classes and modular distance learning”, depending on the circumstances in their respective areas.
“To give our schools flexibility, classes may be conducted in-person or through alternative delivery modes depending on the preference of the learners and their parents/guardians,” it added.
DepEd said it will not “kowtow" or obey the communists, their allies and supporters.
“Topmost in mind is the national agenda, that should be supported by a whole-of-nation approach, to maximize the learning recovery of our learners,” it said.
Earlier, DepEd spokesperson Michael Poa announced that the education department would not suspend any classes amid the strike.
