The highly transmissible Delta COVID-19 variant has now spread to 13 regions across the Philippines, the Department of Health (DOH) said Monday.
In a press briefing, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that the National Capital Region (NCR) recorded the highest case of the Delta variant with 146.
It is followed by Calabarzon with 47 cases, Central Luzon with 39, Central Visayas with 37, and Western Visayas with 36.
Of the 450 cases in the country, Vergeire said 355 of them were local transmission, 69 are returning overseas Filipinos, and 26 still undergoing verification.
426 patients have recovered from the virulent variant while 10 have succumbed to the disease.
Vergeire added that 35 Delta variant cases have been confirmed to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19; 17 have received one dose; 83 are unvaccinated, and 315 are still undergoing verification.
She noted that the ages of the Delta variant cases ranged from less than 1 year old to 84 years old.
On Monday, the Philippines has been once again classified as "high risk" for COVID-19 following the surge in its cases over the past two weeks.
