A Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight has resumed operation after it was put on hold due to the fire incident at Haneda airport in Tokyo, Japan.

PAL management confirmed on Tuesday evening, January 2, that the Philippine Airlines PR424 (MNL-HND) plane has started accepting passengers for boarding.

"Due to the temporary closure of all runways at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport, PR424 was earlier put on hold. After receiving the latest briefing from Haneda airport authorities on the opening of certain runways, PR424 is now targeted to depart at 09:30 PM," PAL management said in its advisory.

Meanwhile, PAL PR423, a flight from Tokyo Haneda to Manila, departed from Haneda at 03:30 AM local time on January 3.

On January 2, at 6 p.m., a Japan Airlines Airbus A350 aircraft reportedly collided with a Bombardier-built Dash-8 maritime patrol plane, which resulted in a major fire incident.

All 367 passengers and 12 crew members from the Airbus were safely evacuated before the fire severely burst.

Unfortunately, five crew of the Japanese Coast Guard aircraft reportedly died while the captain was injured, as confirmed by Japan's Transport Minister Tetsuo Saito.
