Senator Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa affirmed that he preempted reports suggesting his name would be implicated in the Senate probe into dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo, and her involvement in POGO operations.
During an exclusive interview on "Balansyado", Dela Rosa said someone informed him that Guo's camp had already prepared an affidavit implicating him as one of the officials allegedly included in her "monthly payroll" and who had helped her escape.
Dela Rosa noted that he will never accept money made from illegal activities.
The statement was made following Raul Villanueva, Senior Vice President of PAGCOR's Security and Monitoring Cluster, who mentioned reports suggesting a former Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief was bribed by Guo to facilitate her escape.
Dela Rosa questioned Villanueva about releasing the unconfirmed statement.
It can be recalled that minutes before the Tuesday hearing concluded, Dela Rosa expressed his concern and directly asked Guo if he was the former PNP Chief in question, but Guo denied it.
"Wala pong ganon nangyari," Guo responded.
As of September 2024, the Philippines has had 29 Chiefs of the PNP since its establishment in 1991.
