At least 375 people have been killed in the onslaught of Typhoon Odette while 56 others are still missing, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Monday.
In a data release, PNP spokesman Colonel Roderick Alba said Central Visayas recorded the highest number of fatalities with 170. It was followed by the CARAGA region with 167 total deaths.
Meanwhile, Western Visayas recorded 24, Northern Mindanao with seven, Eastern Visayas with six, and the Zamboanga Peninsula with one death.
The PNP also reported that 56 people are still missing, of which 47 were from Central Visayas, 8 in CARAGA, and one in Eastern Visayas.
About 500 individuals were also injured by the typhoon onslaught with 364 coming from the Central Visayas, 118 from CARAGA, 15 in Eastern Visayas, and three in Northern Mindanao.
The numbers have yet to be verified by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) who earlier reported only 156 deaths, less than half of the figures reported by the PNP.
PAGASA said Odette exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday.
