After a court in Muntinlupa City acquitted Former Sen. Leila De Lima of the third and final illegal drugs case against her, the ex-lawmaker directed some words to Former President Rodrigo Duterte.

"Kay Pangulong Duterte, kayo ngayon ang mananagot sa mga kasalanan ninyo sa taong-bayan," De Lima told reporters.

During the Administration of Former President Duterte, the Department of Justice filed three cases against De Lima for her alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade.

Since 2017, De Lima has been detained at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Quezon City, and she earned temporary freedom after a court granted her bail last November.

"Isa lang akong biktima. Libu-libong Pilipino ang pinaslang nila nung nakaraang madugo at pekeng War on Drugs. Maraming pamilya ang naulila," De Lima stressed.

"Yung iba hindi pinatay pero nabubulok sila sa kulungan dahil sa mali at baluktot na pagpapatupad ng batas," she added.

De Lima also promised to help the International Criminal Court, which investigates the alleged crimes against humanity committed during the War Against Drugs of the Duterte Administration.

"(President Duterte) ay panangutin. Kailangan siyang panagutin dahil wala naman nangyayari dito sa Pilipinas. Kakaunti lang ang napro-prosecute," the former senator said.

"Handang-handa ako na tumulong sa ICC," she added.

Muntinlupa City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 206 presiding Judge Gener Gito granted the demurrer to evidence filed by the camp of De Lima due to the failure of the prosecution to prove her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

The court also acquitted former Bureau of Corrections director Franklin Bucayu; Ronnie Dayan, the former driver-bodyguard of De Lima; Joenel Sanchez; and Jad Dera.

The prosecution studies the possibility of filing a motion for reconsideration or any legal remedy against the ruling.
