This prompted the Senate Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs to issue a subpoena against De Castro, and another involved suspect named Jeffrey Magpantay, who is believed to be De Castro's driver-bodyguard.
According to RH Raymund Dadpaas' report, the subpoena was moved by Senator Raffy Tulfo and was subsequently approved by the committee chairman Senator Ronald 'Bato' dela Rosa.
De Castro had written a letter to Senators, saying that he could not attend the investigation because his pregnant wife is in pain.

Magpantay, on the other hand, said he could not attend the hearing as he was not feeling well.
Dela Rosa, however, considered these excuses "flimsy alibis."
The suspects have been warned by the Senator that they might receive warrants of arrest from the Senate if they ignore the subpoena.
De Castro and Magpantay are currently facing kidnapping and illegal detention complaints over Camilon's disappearance.
Camilon went missing in October last year and was allegedly supposed to meet De Castro at the time of his disappearance.
A CCTV footage taken on October 12 showed Camilon's vehicle in Batangas towns, and she was not seen alone, according to authorities.
On October 12, witnesses reported seeing the beauty queen covered in blood as she was being transferred from her car to another. One witness reportedly saw Magpantay nearby at the time of the incident.
Authorities eventually found the car, and the hair and blood they found inside matched Camilon's parents' DNA.
Major General Romeo Caramat, director of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, said De Castro admitted that he had an affair with Camilon.
