Within a period of four weeks, the ONE Friday Fights stage will feature another talented Filipino fighter who wil be representing Fight Corps MMA based in Baguio City.
Dave "Kintas" Bangguigui, originally from La Trinidad, Benguet, will step into the ring against Uzbekistan's Sanzhar Zakirov in a three-round strawweight bout on August 11.
Bangguigui boasts an impressive professional record of 9-1, with four knockout wins and two submissions to his credit.
After participating in two bouts under Rich Franklin's ONE Warrior Series in 2019, the 26-year-old Filipino fighter finally realized his dream of competing on the main roster of The Home of Martial Arts this past April when he faced Brazil's Marcus Paulo Amaral.
Bangguigui showcased his wrestling-heavy skills, dominating Amaral throughout the match, ultimately winning by unanimous decision.
Zakirov, on the other hand, poses a tough challenge for Bangguigui, as he holds an undefeated record of 5-0 with an 80-percent finishing rate.
The Uzbek fighter has won his last four outings by either knockout or submission and aims to maintain his winning streak against Bangguigui.
Bangguigui's upcoming fight will build on the momentum set by his fellow Team Lakay members, Carlos "The Limitless" Alvarez and Carlo "The Bull" Bumina-ang who have achieved victories under the ONE Friday Fights banner.
Alvarez secured a win against Sadegh Ghasemi in July, elevating his ONE Friday Fights standing to 2-0, while Bumina-ang delivered a spectacular 52-second knockout of Reza Saedi on August 4.
The highly anticipated ONE Friday Fights 28 event will take place live at the renowned Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Filipino fans can catch the action on ONE Championship's official YouTube channel and Facebook page on August 11 at 8:30 PM.
