

Davao del Norte Governor Edwin Jubahib pledged on Thursday to step up efforts to protect children's rights and eliminate all forms of child labor.
Governor Edwin Jubahib made the assurance following a visit to his office by ChildFund International Country Director Anand Vishwakarma on Wednesday.
ChildFund is an international non-governmental organization (NGO) that collaborates with local partner organizations, governments, corporations, and individuals to help children thrive in safe environments.
The NGO's projects have benefited approximately 1,037 children in the province, with the goal of reducing the number of children forced t work by improving their access to education.
On Wednesday, Jubahib met with Vishwakarma to discuss his administration's policy reforms and programs aimed at ensuring children's basic rights, particularly protection, survival, development, and participation.
Meanwhile, Vishwakarma praised the provincial government for its commitment to expanding its partnership in implementing more projects across the province.
Jubahib mentioned several interventions for children in the province, including the Bahay Panaghiusa for children in armed conflict situations.
The Department of Labor and Employment, Kaanib Foundation, and ChildFund Philippines, in collaboration with the province, have also implemented livelihood projects in four barangays of the province to prevent child labor and trafficking.
