A man who hacked his own father to death with a bolo in Davao City has been arrested.
The incident occurred on February 4, 2025 in Purok Tisa, Barangay Talandang, Tugbo District in Davao City. The victim has been identified by the Los Amigos Police Station as alias Rolando, 60, and his son, the murder suspect, as alias Rey, 26.
According to a neighbor’s account, the two had just arrived from a birthday party to the house of the suspect’s sibling when said neighbor, alias Eliza, heard a commotion.
Following the tumult, Eliza reportedly saw the suspect bloodied and wounded. She said Rey confessed to killing his father, who had attacked him first. Rolando was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
However, the victim’s 14-year-old grandchild contested the claim, alleging Rey had purposely wounded himself.
Rey is currently being treated at the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) for his injuries.
