More than 1,411 residents belonging to 394 families were displaced due to the heavy rains caused by the low pressure area (LPA) in the Davao region, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) reported on Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 31.

Based on the report released by OCD, a total of 288 families have been affected in Davao de Oro due to the continuous rainfall.

In Davao Oriental, a total of 106 families were relocated and are currently staying at the various evacuation centers throughout the province.

As of 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 15 barangays, or villages, reportedly experienced floods.

Twelve barangays in Davao de Oro and Davao Oriental experienced landslide incidents; however, no major damage or casualties have been reported as of the moment.

According to the OCD, three highways in Davao de Oro are impassable for all kinds of vehicles. In Davao Oriental, landslides and water have rendered three routes impassable as well.

Two people have been reported missing following a landslide in Sitio Panlaisan, Barangay Pichon, Caraga, Davao Oriental, on Tuesday morning, January 30, according to the Philippine Coast Guard Southeastern Mindanao.

As a result of the LPA's intense rains, the OCD said that 44 local government units in the area, including Davao City, had suspended work and classes.
