Dasmariñas Integrated High School (DIHS) dominated the first-ever Professional Chess Association of the Philippines Inter-School Championships, winning all four of their matches in the opening weekend of July 8–9.
DIHS began their elimination round by blanking Chiang Kai Shek College 15-0, followed by a 13-2 victory over the Technological Institute of the Philippines.
They also swept their Sunday matches, winning 15-0 against Adamson and 12-3 against the College of Saint Benilde to go 4-0 in this 20-team field with 55 points.
Ateneo de Manila University was the only other undefeated squad during the opening weekend. In their inaugural games, the Katipunan-based woodpushers defeated San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 8.5-6.5, and La Immaculada Concepcion School, 9-6, on Saturday, July 8.
The Blue Eagles then defeated the College of Saint Benilde Blazers, 8.5-6.5, and Jose Rizal University, 8-7, on Sunday, July 9. Despite being 4-0, the former is 34 points behind DIHS.
San Sebastian College-Recoletos, the University of Cebu, Jose Rizal University, and the University of the Philippines are all 3-1.
The final weekend of play in PCAP's first-ever scholastic competition will be July 15–16.
