Controversial filmmaker Darryl Yap has posted a ₱20,000 bail to forestall his arrest for two counts of cyberlibel in relation to his movie “The Rapists of Pepsi Paloma.”

Yap filed a bond of ₱10,000 for each count of cyberlibel the day Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 203 Presiding Judge Myra Quiambao issued a warrant of arrest against him.

Veteran actor and TV host Vic Sotto had lodged a complaint against Yap in January, alleging he had violated Articles 353 and 355 of the Revised Penal Code pursuant to the Republic Act No. 10175, also known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

The arraignment and pre-trial conference on the case has been set for March 26.

Sotto filed 19 counts of cyberlibel against Yap, claiming ₱35 million in reparations. However, prosecution dismissed the bulk of the charges and instead proceeded with two cyberlibel cases after establishing sufficient evidence in connection to the Pepsi Paloma teaser.
