National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Jaime Santiago has confirmed that the NBI is in close coordination with Indonesian authorities to ensure the swift return of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo to the Philippines.
"Hindi naman aabutin ng linggo ‘yan [pagbalik ni Guo sa Pilipinas], immediately ngayon o bukas, mababalik na po namin ‘yan [Guo]," Santiago said during an exclusive interview with DZRH for Damdaming Bayan on Wednesday.
He stated that the Bureau of Immigration and the NBI are working together to expedite Guo's return to the country, in compliance with the directive of Justice Secretary Boying Remulla.
Santiago stated that Guo was apprehended by Indonesian police at around 1:30 AM and is now in their custody.
"Si Alice lang po ang naireport sa amin [na nahuli], si Wesley ay wala pa rin," Santiago stated.
Guo will be brought to the Bureau of Immigration to face immigration violation charges and then transferred to the NBI for her pending criminal charges.
Santiago stated that the NBI will initially hold Guo in custody, and after all procedures are finished, she will be handed over to the Senate to attend the hearings following her contempt citation.
