The Department of Agriculture (DA) has set up livestock checkpoints to various locations throughout Luzon as a preventive measure for the continuous spread of the African Swine Fever.
The DA stated that establishing checkpoints is a temporary measure while the government waits for the arrival of ASF vaccines.
DA Assistant Secretary for Swine and Poultry Constante Palabrica stated that additional border controls are intended to stop the movement of infected hogs, which have significantly contributed to the rapid spread of ASF in Batangas.
Additionally, the quarantine for livestock will continue until December 31.
