The Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel urged consumers to monitor and report their concerns on the prices of agricultural commodities using the sector’s hashtag, #DABantayPresyo.
In a press release on Monday, January 27, DA Secretary Laurel reminded consumers to utilize their hashtag in monitoring the prices of agricultural goods like rice, vegetables, fish, and meat.
“Reminder, we have #DABantayPresyo. If you notice unusually high prices, take a picture and send it using that hashtag,” DA Secretary Laurel said.
A joint price monitor with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) was conducted at the Cartimar Market in Pasay City on January 24. During the monitoring, the team assessed the affordability of various agricultural commodities like rice, vegetables, fish, and meat.
DA Secretary Laurel, Pasay City Mayor Imelda Calixto-Rubiano, DA Assistant Secretary Genevieve Velicaria-Guevarra, and DTI Assistant Secretary Agaton Teodor Uvero led the monitoring team.
The DA noted that consumers can receive daily updates on the prices of basic agricultural commodities in major markets by subscribing to their Bantay Presyo Text Blast service.
