The Department of Agriculture (DA) has assured the public that it will soon deploy safe vaccines to combat the spread of African Swine Fever (ASF) in affected areas, Val Gonzales reported.
This assurance comes in response to concerns raised by the Sinag Partylist, which warned that some stocks of ASF vaccines held by the supplier are nearing expiration.
During a press conference on Tuesday, Agriculture Assistant Secretary Arnel de Mesa emphasized that the DA will strictly adhere to proper procedures to ensure the vaccines' efficacy and safety.
De Mesa also announced that the DA plans to purchase 10,000 doses of the vaccine, targeting areas with high ASF cases, particularly in Batangas.
The province of Batangas was recently placed under a state of calamity following a recommendation from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, which was approved by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.
The first batch of ASF vaccines purchased by the DA is expected to arrive next week.
