Senator Cynthia Villar has withdrawn from her senate presidency bid, endorsing the candidacy of Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri, who is also vying for the top Senate post.

"Wala nang (There's no more) SP (Senate Presidency) race," Villar told reporters shortly after the Commission on Appointments (CA) hearing on Wednesday.

Further probed for her statement, reporters asked Villar if it means she is no longer interested in the Senate presidency, she replied: "Hindi na (Not anymore)."

The lawmaker, whose term ends in 2025, added that she is now supporting Zubiri's bid.

Likewise, Villar rejected the possibility of "term-sharing" with Zubiri which she had earlier offered to him.

"Ayoko na, (I don’t want it) I want a simple life," Villar said.

Villar and reelectionist Zubiri are both allies of the incoming Marcos administration.
