The Philippine National Police (PNP) Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) announced that cybercrime cases in the country have declined by 29.9 percent, based on the data from January 1st to May 9th this year.

In a report by Val Gonzales, there have been 6,151 complaints filed, compared to 8,775 during the same period in the past year.

Online selling scams went down from 1,741 to 1,365 complaints, investment scams from 618 to 473, and phishing scams from 591 to 426--the three top cybercrimes that have seen the biggest declines.

PNP ACG Acting Director Police Brigadier General Ronnie Francis Cariaga said this decrease shows progress in both the PNP's response to digital threats and businesses and the government's implementation of cybersecurity measures, demonstrating how continuous "collaboration, cooperation, and vigilance across all sectors of society" is essential in reducing cyber risks and preserving the integrity of digital domains.
