The Philippine National Police (PNP) received drones from a leisure and casino corporation on Friday, boosting its security preparations for President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s second State of the Nation Address (SONA).
In changeover rituals at the PNP headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City, PNP commander Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr. received the drones from Okada Manila president and Okada Foundation Inc. trustee James Lorenza and his team.
The company gave away four DJI Mini 3 Pro drones and one DJI Mavic 3 Thermal Enterprise drone.
These drones, which are outfitted with cutting-edge technology like high-resolution cameras, infrared imaging capabilities, and real-time data transmission, are expected to play a critical role in ensuring peace and order during the President's State of the Union Address on July 24.
Acorda stressed the critical role of drones in assisting the PNP's mandate of protecting citizens, upholding the rule of law, and maintaining peace and order.
The deployment of these unmanned aerial vehicles, according to Acorda, would provide critical aerial monitoring during the SONA event.
He claims that from a strategic vantage point, these drones can monitor crowds, transportation, and potential security risks.
He further stated that the incorporation of drone technology enables the police force to respond to diverse occurrences in a timely and proactive manner.
Acorda advised all PNP members to embrace technological innovations with zeal and accountability.
