Two ex-rebels and at least 15 supporters of the communist terror group (CTG) surrendered to the military on Sunday in Baler, Aurora.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Julito B. Recto Jr., commander of the Army’s 91 Infantry Battalion (91IB), the two members who surrendered were from the Aurora Provincial Party Committee of the dismantled Domingo Erlano Command of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA).
He added that the 17 people signified their withdrawal of support from the CTG after taking an oath of allegiance to the government.
In an interview, Recto said that these people voluntarily submitted themselves to 91B and came to their office for a lasting sense of peace, committing to support the government's program.
He commended the surrenderers' decision, pointing out that the government is ready to accept it and help them lead peaceful lives.
